“Diamonds are forever” celebrates the incredible songs that Bassey recorded throughout her life. Join SAMA award winning songstress Anna Davel and Ghoema award winning music producer Jaconell Mouton in this joyous and soulful production of their personal highlights of Shirley Bassey’s discography. The audience can look forward to acoustic piano and vocal arrangements of some of her greatest hits – amongst others; Diamonds are forever / Never, Never, Never / Big Spender / I, who have nothing / Kiss me, Honey, Honey / Where do I begin / How do you keep the music playing / I am what I am.

As a child, the international Wales singer, Shirley Veronica Bassey, said: "...everyone told me to shut up. Even in the school choir the teacher kept telling me to back off till I was singing in the corridor!" At the age of 14, Bassey was working in a metal factory by day and singing in clubs in the evenings and on weekends to make ends meet. Her incredible talent did not go unnoticed. At the very young age of 19 (1957), Bassey had her first hit with "The Banana Boat Song", which reached No. 8 in the UK Singles Chart. The rest is history.
This incredible singer has since conquered the world, re-inventing herself time after time. Her worldwide popularity took off when she sang "Goldfinger" for the 1964 James Bond movie of the same name. She also sang the theme songs for two other Bond films, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker. These Bond songs, along with her interpretations of numbers like "Big Spender" and "I Am What I Am," made Bassey's career an unmitigated success.
After a music career that spans several decades, Shirley Bassey was made a dame commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2000. It was another mark of distinction in a career that has seen her sell over 135 million records. She received a standing ovation at the 2013 Academy Awards for her performance of "Goldfinger." Dame Shirley Bassey has truly come a long way from her humble beginnings, and is at the age of 82, still a sought after performing, gracing stages all over the world.
